Some current issues from the TSA/DHS:
Still waiting for LASP II, probably a couple months at least.
Repair Stations are now the source du jour of terrorist activity in aviation, even though 2009 has seen more Muslim male passenger activity in all the years since 9/11 combined. So much so that the general population is ready to do profiling in spite of Secretary Mineta's decision in 2001.
See the Repair Station page for a tool kit to response to this new TSA security non-issue. For a quicker version, you can go to www.planehook.com by clicking on the picture.
The downloadable toolkits are located on the lower right on the Home page
SD-8G is still out there and the list of airports affected by it is still classified.
Operation Playbook is still out there and hiding.
The latest is the Airport Survey...
NOTICE
Town Hall Meeting to protect your rights and freedoms as a General Aviation Pilot in America.
27 March 2010 at 1400 there will be a Town Hall meeting at Peach State Aerodrome (GA2) south of Atlanta in Williamson, GA to discuss the Large Aircraft Security Program and how it will affect your flying, since the TSA has deemed General Aviation a threat to National Security.
Speakers include John Hyle, airline Captain and warbird pilot; Alan Armstrong, aviation attorney and published author; plus some to be announced.
We have a short presentation on the legislative issues so far to stop this injustice and an detailed explanation of what LASP would mean should the TSA enact it. At this time, we are awaiting the modified version (to be issued as a Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking) soon, it may or may not be out by the meeting date.
For further information on LASP, and Security Directive 8G, Operation Playbook, the current Repair Station NPRM and the current Airport Survey, see:

Below are some lists and some more comments.
These aircraft educate the public, fight wildfires, transport the sick and injured, help facilitate the American economy, materially reflect the freedom of the American spirit, and celebrate our country's victories over the forces of fascism, imperialism and communism. It would be tragic if the same aircraft that fought to preserve our freedoms were victorious over foreign tyrants only to be defeated by a tyrannical proposal from within our own government.
--Greg Garrett
Congress is starting to get it, Representative Oberstar took the TSA/DHS to task after his Aviation Subcommittee round table.
We have taken down our letter as it's time for you to pen your own. Keep it simple, one page.
Economic issues about lost jobs, not only in aviation proper but the people at the airport restuarant, the guys at Sporty's selling stuff, the truck drivers delivering avgas to the airport, etc., etc.
And don't forget the Constitution! The most effective traction, according to lobbyists working up there seems to be the fact that this proposal restricts the freedom on law abiding Americans like no other and it's assault on the Consitution is a grave step this country has never taken before, even in times of war.
This is the country that invented the thing, there will be no more pilots, no more mechanics, no more Boeing, Witchita will dry up and blow away.
There are a whole host of options/approaches to this, other than the fact that GA is not a threat.
The lists below center on the House of Representatives. We're working on the Senate lists now. While they may be a bit harder to use, i.e. you'll have to search (google) them to find a contact number, they are still very useful. The more the merrier.
